Arrive in Mendoza (747m), to be met by a member
of Andes and More. Alternatively, you can meet the group in Catamarca, further north, on Day 2. You will be taken to your
hotel and helped with the rental of any equipment. Welcome dinner included.

We travel by private
bus to Famatina. Dinner and accommodation included.

|
|
We travel from Famatina to La Coipa (3260m)
where we make camp.
|
|
|
We ascend to La Laguna
de Los Aparejos at 4620m.
|
|
|
A day to rest and acclimatise.
|
|
|
We continue our ascent, passing Laguna Azul
and the salt lake of Laguna Verde, from where we will have an impressive view of Pissis. We then continue along the
banks of the Laguna Verde and the Laguna Negra to arrive at the Mar del Plata base camp (4560m).

|
Just rest and
get used to the altitude.
|
|
|
We climb up
to Camp I (5100m) to leave food and equipment and return to sleep at Mar del Plata base camp. This round trip takes between
4 and 6 hours.

|
Climb up to Camp I at 5100m to spend the night there.
|
|
|
Ascend to Camp II next to the glacier at 5420m. During the afternoon we rest and prepare for summit day.

Summit
Day! We ascend through the ice field using crampons because of the hardness of the snow and the 30-35º gradient of the slope. After we leave
the ice field, the slope continues at the same gradient, but with stony terrain. We arrive at the summit after 6-8 hours.

Descend to Mar del Plata base camp.
|
|
|
Descend from base camp to the village of Fiambalá.
Farewell dinner.
|
|
|
Return to Mendoza or Catamarca.
|
|
|
There are two extra
days built in to the itinerary in case of bad weather or in case the group needs to rest more. So you return to the airport
on Day 17, if you are leaving from Mendoza.
